Holiday pause coming as Bridge Street project passes six months
Holiday pause on construction will start before Thanksgiving

We’re just about through the first stages of the improvement project on North Bridge Street (Ohio 159), and the holiday closure will happen in mid-November. This will improve traffic flow during what is expected to be a very busy gift-buying season.
Here’s an update from the Ohio Department of Transportation on what’s been done, is still in process, and what will be completed by the holiday closure:
What Has Been Completed:
1. All utilities have been relocated
2. Scioto River bridge rail painting is complete
3. The shared use path under the bridge that ties into the flood wall is complete (Not opened yet)
4. The new and Improved sidewalk on the Scioto River bridge is complete
5. All northbound lights on the Scioto River Bridge have been installed
What is Currently Being Done:
1. Walmart – Automall roundabout
2. Retaining wall #2 at Kroger gas pumps (Needs handrail and sealing)
3. Retaining wall #3 at McDonald’s (Needs handrail and sealing)
4. Pavement widening is being wrapped up from North Plaza to Pawnee
5. The new sidewalk is progressing from North Plaza to Pawnee
What Will Be Completed by the Holidays:
1. The roundabout will be opened to traffic
2. The connector road behind Applebee’s will be open to traffic
3. The traffic pattern will be installed, consisting of three northbound lanes open and two southbound lanes, with all intersection turn lanes open.
This project began on April 7, 2025 – the holiday pause will start before Thanksgiving. It’s important to note that $19.29 million project is expected to continue until Summer 2027. Updates are posted to the project page, which you can access by clicking here.
